Jonathan Williams

A few weeks ago, we set the intention to be more organized and interview boys earlier in the week in order to make Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings less stressful. Naturally, this never came to be and we ended up interviewing Jonathan at 10 pm Tuesday night. He willingly met up with us after his shift at the seed at the Dessert House in China Town.

 

Jonathan Williams is a refreshingly easy going guy who is the perfect blend of shy and charming. A nice boy brought to us by word of mouth, Jon is a friend of a friend who works full time at The Mustard Seed.

 

When he’s not being tender with those in need and gracefully handling death threats from a particular unstable stranger, Jonathan spends his hours DJ-ing as DJ Crosswalk with a group called Transit.

 

We bonded over our love of Spanish slang and our childhoods of learning English through watching television shows. Jonathan was born in Santiago, Chile and lived there until he was 7 years old. After spending most of his adolescence here in Calgary and a stint in Montreal, he now calls this place home.

 

He left us with a hug, a smile and the best end to a busy Tuesday any girl could ask for.

 

Q&A

What do you like to do in your down time?

I don’t really have a  whole lot of down time so I usually just hang out with friends or wander around the city

Where is your favourite place to wander?

I like along the bike paths right by here. Like along that way *points right*  and I like up the hill!

What neighbourhood did you grow up in?

Yeah. I got a couple bikes and a car stolen.

You got bikes AND a car stolen?!

Over the course of eight years.

If you were to take me on a first date to remember, what would it be?

Uuuuhhhhh to remember?! If it was winter time, we would go into the middle of the river because it would be frozen and then have a picnic.

What if the ice cracked?

I don’t know if I’d get a second date

Do you like the winter?

No I hate the winter but it’s frozen so that’s the only time you can get to the middle of the river.

Do you watch rom coms?

What?

Romantic comedies.

Um sometimes maybe? If there’s nothing else to do?

If you could be the male star of a famous rom com who would you be?

I don’t know any of them or their names.

Biggie. I like tupac some of his songs but I like biggie’s flow

What is your musical guilty pleasure?

Uhh what’s that song? It’s a quarter after one I’m all alone and I need you now.

No, Lady Antebellum

Yeah that was the song we’d listen to on tour!

Do you have a sweet tooth or do you prefer salty snax?

I like sweets better.

What is your favourite thing to cook?

I make a good stir fry and it’s easy to make sooooo…….

What was your favourite thing your mom would make for you as a kid?

Oooh empanadas!

How often do you see your mom?

At least once a month.

Does she live in town?

Still lives in the north east

How often do you talk to your mom?

At least a couple times a week. She’s funny. She likes hip hop

Would she like tupac or biggie?

Probably biggie, he’s more melodic

What are your words to live by?

To hesitate is to lose ahahaha

What do you want to be your legacy?

i don’t know yet what I would want it to be.
